Thanks to Latcher from our fan forums for the following info!

Hollywood has had it with cancer.

Jennifer Aniston, America Ferrera, David Cook, Casey Affleck, Meryl Streep, Lance Armstrong, Scarlett Johansson and Forest Whitaker are just some of the celebrities who are taking a stand against cancer during a one-hour television special to be aired on ABC, CBS and NBC on Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Stand Up to Cancer has attracted A-list names to participate in the broadcast.

The effort began when a handful of members of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, which addresses various health issues but emphasizes cancer research and prevention, and the Noreen Fraser Foundation, which works to raise awareness about women’s cancers, each discussed raising funds via a television broadcast. Soon, more individuals joined each effort, and eventually the two groups came together with the idea for SU2C.

“A lot of us had similar ideas at the same time. And we had some connection with each other,” says SU2C producer Laura Ziskin, a breast cancer survivor who joined the effort early. “Every single person involved in this is touched by this disease in one way or another.”

Other celebrities confirmed to appear on the broadcast: Christina Applegate, Josh Brolin, Katie Couric, Dana Delany, Fran Drescher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Jon Favreau, Charles Gibson, Neil Patrick Harris, Salma Hayek, Masi Oka, Danica Patrick, Christina Ricci, Robin Roberts, Hilary Swank, Charlize Theron, Goran Visnjic and Brian Williams.

More talent will be announced later. Ziskin describes the show format as “edu-tainment” and explains that her goal is to make the broadcast lively and instructive from start to finish. “There’s humor, there’s music, there’s film pieces, there’s lots and lots of celebrities,” she says of the fundraiser.

As for recruiting stars, “if people are available, they are coming,” Ziskin says. “They want to participate.”

And while the producer says nothing should be missed, she insists, “You don’t want to miss Homer and Marge Simpson.”

Many stars already have started rallying around the cause. At major league baseball’s All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium recently, Sex and the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker and singer Sheryl Crow introduced a PSA soliciting donations for SU2C by texting contributions. The PSA, which stars Jessica Biel, is being shown at stadiums nationwide throughout the baseball season. On the Internet, video segments with the cast from The Daily Show can be seen at standup2cancer.org. Other interactive features are available on the site, which will continue to operate after the TV broadcast.

After all, Ziskin says, “we hope that Sept. 5 is just the beginning.”

I have started updating the content of the website and tonight I finished up and updated the content in the Christina Ricci section – the biography is coming really soon, I have to write a new one for the site!

I also finished up the awards & nominations page. I will be finishing up the rest of the “projects” section this week, because there is a lot to do.

I also opened up the press archive. I’m terrible at keeping up with those, so if anyone wants to help out so we can have a complete archive of Ricci articles, please contact me.

Alright, that’s it for tonight! So enjoy and I’ll be adding more content this week.

I have updated the gallery tonight with scans from most of Christina’s recent magazine appearances. There are features that I’m missing and I’m working on obtaining them to scan, but it’s kinda hard to do when you’re broke. Thanks to the lovely Jen for the scans from “Famous” magazine. Click on the thumbnails below to see the new scans!

Welcome to the new version of Confessions of Christina Ricci! I created this new layout about a week and a half ago and finally got around to coding it. If you’re still seeing the old look, please hit refresh on your browser. Those of you who are using 1024×768 or lower may have to hit the F11 key to see the whole layout, but the content part of the site should be easily viewable. If you encounter any errors, feel free to let me know as well.

I am also re-doing the content on the site, so that’s why the “Christina” and “Projects” sections are blank. Those will be back up (and actually up-to-date! LOL) by the end of the weekend. :cute: I’ve spent all evening and most of tonight working on this layout, so that’s why the content didn’t get transferred over yet.

Alright, I hope you guys enjoy the new look! I’ll be updating again with some photo updates and of course the content will be back as well. Comment and let me know what you think.

I will begin to resume updates on the site again this weekend. I’m currently in the process of backing up the site’s content – and I want to make sure to get everything before I add anything new. There’s going to be a lot in store when I update again, stay tuned!
